Root in Peace
Not every plant parent has a green thumb. For many, the fun of growing houseplants is tempered by a sense of guilt and withering loss when a leafy dependent dies.
Despite how common this experience is, plant death is rarely talked about, and is often treated as a personal failure.
“Root in Peace” is a plant funeral event that explores houseplant death as a shared emotional experience, rather than an individual mistake. It opens up conversation and reframes loss as a part of growth.
Compost Coffin. The soil from each plant is returned to a central compost coffin.
Final installation.
Memorial Wall. Guests write a final farewell and place it alongside their plant portrait.
Order of Service. The order of service guides guests through each stage of the plant funeral.
