Through cyanotype and book design, I explore my Isle of Lewis roots by using islander voices and stories to showcase the life that shaped our history.
By applying cyanotype to multiple materials, I have captured events of the island and used them as a preservation tool. This exhibition also features two books, one documenting a native islander’s family history and another preserving my own, creating a new way to keep our Gaelic culture alive for everyone.
Cyanotype on fabric, harris tweed chair.
Cyanotype on mirror, Gaelic language ‘Catriona Bheag’
Eilidh Ferguson family history, book bound.
Cyanotype on glass, Iolaire disaster.
Cyanotype on tile, lighthouse keepers mystery.
My family history preservation, book bound.
