My project, The Hearth, is a dementia day centre designed to highlight the importance of specialised spaces for people living with dementia. Inspired by the warmth of home and community, the design creates a calm, welcoming environment through rich sensory materials, natural textures, and strong connections to the outdoors, including a central courtyard. Shaped by personal experiences, research, and time spent with a dementia group, the project focuses on wellbeing, comfort, independence, and meaningful connection for individuals living with dementia, alongside their families, friends, and carers.
