Men-ding
Lack of repair skills among young men is a major issue when it comes to breaking the stigmas around traditional mending. Mending has been pushed aside, but with the right approach, it can become relevant again.
Men-ding is a hands-on, subscription-based concept designed to make repair skills fun and accessible. Each kit combines a ‘manly’ theme with a sustainable skill, like learning sashiko basics to fix up old kit in Stitches and Pitches. To bring this to life, I ran the ‘Patch It Up’ workshop with a local zero waste hub, where participants learned embroidery techniques and customised their own tote bags.
